One of the most striking collections in the museum are the many ‘gingerbread’ decorative trim patterns. Houses all around the museum and in the area are adorned with examples of Sutherland’s work. Below are a few examples of gingerbread and a rocking horse. Visitors can draw full sized patterns to take away for a modest fee used to cover the cost of materials.
The museum does not collect artifacts, unless they have a very strong provenance (connecting directly to the Sutherland Steam Mill history). Decisions are based on the Nova Scotia Museum’s Collections Policy.
